This week in Science class finished up our weather observations. The kids took data three times each day of temperature, wind direction, wind speed, air pressure, cloud coverage, and relative humidity. After five days we compared the relationship between temperature and time of day/wind direction/cloud coverage. Next week we will learn about the water cycle, clouds and the affect of human interaction on our water cycle.
Here's a rap about the water cycle:

In writing this week we learned the "Burrito Method" for writing a super easy essay. We start by folding our paper into a burrito and it just gets easier from there. Ask your student to show you a burrito and how we use it for writing a summary!
Reading: This week we reviewed contractions and identified several of them in a poem and expository. We also learned what a multiple-meaning word is and found several of them in different contexts. We finished off the week by reading an expository about Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad and determining importance of events throughout the story as we read. NEXT WEEK: We will finish up our Shhh! We're Writing the Constitution unit and take our Theme 5 Progress Test.
MATH – We began our unit on graphing this week by discussing frequency tables and line plots. Students also reviewed equivalent fractions and learned how to use them to add and subtract fractions. NEXT WEEK: We look at bar and line graphs to decide on when to use them.
