Stokes Notes- September 24

Congratulations to Dawson, Sarah and Ashley for winning awards at our assembly today!!!

What a fun Friday! Today we celebrated the end of the month with our Friday Fling and followed it up with an assembly and the Homecoming parade.

Here's what's happening in class:

WRITING – Students have been studying the four kinds of sentences - declarative, interrogative, imperative and exclamatory. We continue our memorization of the 23 helping verbs.

READING – This week we met our goal of completing our DRA testing. We continued making good connections during our individual reading.

SCIENCE – This week we continued observing the mold on our bread. Our control bread still had none. We also explored the scientific classification system. NEXT WEEK: We will begin looking at animal classification.

MATH – This week we estimated using rounding and front-end methods. We also worked with adding and subtracting decimals and whole numbers. NEXT WEEK: Our unit test will be on Tuesday. We will begin our next unit with an introduction to algebra.
